The Utah Jazz and the Denver Nuggets haven't played each other since back in January, but the Jazz showed Denver that they present a bad matchup for them no matter what their records are. Utah was able to pull off the 118-103 win by playing good defense and taking smart shots both inside and outside of the three-point arc.

The Jazz showed right from the start of the game that they meant business, eventually outscoring the Nuggets 67-53 in the first half. In the second half, it was more about containing the Nuggets and not allowing them to get back into the game. By doing that, they were able to cut Denver's scoring stretches short and ended up getting the 15-point victory.

Utah's Alec Burks, who started in place of injured shooting guard Gordon Hayward, had by far his best game of the season in this one. He scored 34 points on 13-of-19 shooting while also getting five assists and only turning it over once in the game.

Derrick Favors also had a solid game for the Jazz, notching a double-double by scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Point guard Trey Burke added 18 points and eight assists in the win.

Nuggets forward J.J. Hickson and Ty Lawson both had double-doubles in the loss. Hickson had 21 points and 10 boards, while Lawson scored 23 points with 11 assists.
