The Minnesota Timberwolves visited the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 17 of this year and headed back to Minnesota on the wrong end of a 94-89 final score. Kyle Lowry led the Raptors with 24 points, five rebounds, six assists and a steal in a game where he made a season high six 3-pointers on the night. This also marks the 18th time the Raptors have beaten the Timberwolves in 19 tries.
DeMar DeRozan came through with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Amir Johnson added 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and Terrence Ross got 16 points.
It was a close game throughout but the statistics don't lie and at this point in the season, the Raptors were 11-3 when they hit 10 or more three pointers on the night. It also helped the Raptors in the end that the Timberwolves were 3-of-18 from behind the arc.
The Timberwolves were led by Kevin Love, who finished the game with 16 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Kevin Martin also contributed 18 points on 7-14 shooting.
In the last 10 head-to-head meetings between Minnesota and Toronto, the Raptors are 8-2 against the spread and have covered in five straight. These games have also been more of a defensive battle as the 'under' is 7-3 over the same period of time.
Since early February, Toronto is hovering around .500 ATS. They've performed better ATS lately and will be looking to get a win against the Timberwolves on Sunday.
The Timberwolves performance ATS is very similar to the Raptors over the last month winning at close to a 50 percent clip. Minnesota has played well ATS when at home lately so we'll be watching to see if they can buck that trend.
