Toronto is winding down their most successful season in recent memory and will have home court advantage in the 1st round of the playoffs barring a major meltdown with 13 games left in the season. A way to avoid that free fall is with a victory Tuesday night over the disappointing Cavaliers. The 2013 #1 draft pick, another year of experience for Kyrie Irving, and even the acquisition of Luol Deng were supposed to be enough to propel Cleveland to their 1st playoff appearance since LeBron James left but they find themselves lottery bound yet again.
Toronto has a respectable 18-16 road record on the season but has struggled defensively away from Toronto recently. Raptors totals have gone over in their last 4 road games with teams posting scores of 118, 100, 101, and 104 over that time. The Raptors record is 2-2 over that time so all is not lost.
Something that is lost is yet another Cleveland season. Despite a surprising 106-100 win over the Knicks on Sunday the Cavaliers have lost 7 of their last 10 games. One bright spot of facing 8 spreads of +7.5 or better over that time is that Cleveland has notched a decent 6-4 record against the spread. The Cavs look to win two straight and avenge a close 99-93 loss in their first matchup against Toronto.
On that February 25th meeting at the Quicken Loans Arena, Toronto came in as 4 point road favorites but were able to cover the number for their bettors by a whole 2 points. DeMar DeRozan led all scorers with 33 points and despite the fact that 9 players went in double figures the total remained under.
ATS Trends
Toronto is 23-11-0 ATS on the road this season
Toronto is 17-17-0 against the over/under on the road this season
Cleveland is 19-16-0 ATS at home this season
Cleveland is 14-21-0 against the over/under at home this season
