When Toronto visited Brooklyn on January 27th, they escaped with a 104-103 victory over the Nets. Patrick Patterson stole Deron Williams' inbounds pass and made the go-ahead jumper with 6 seconds left, and the Raptors stopped a five-game winning streak by the Nets. Brooklyn had a 3 point lead with 17 seconds left, but John Salmons scored on a drive with 12 seconds remaining before Brooklyn took its last timeout. Patterson then stole the pass and scored the winning bucket for the Raptors.
There were eight lead changes in the second quarter, including 2 within the last 1.3 seconds. Alan Anderson's 3-pointer put the Nets up by two, but Lowry beat the buzzer from beyond half court to give Toronto a 57-56 halftime lead. The 2nd half was back and forth as well, but Toronto got the timely steal by Patterson to seal this one for the Raptors.
Kyle Lowry led the Raptors with 31 points and 7 assists. Jonas Valanciunas had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Raptors, who played without injured leading scorer DeMar DeRozan.
Paul Pierce scored 33 points for the Nets, including 7 three pointers. Andray Blatche added 20 points for Brooklyn, but it wasn't enough on this night to stop the surging Raptors.
