The San Antonio Spurs will attempt to improve upon their 9-7 road record on Friday night when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans.

During the 2013-14 season, the Spurs were able to sweep their four-game series against the Pelicans. San Antonio's most lopsided win was in their final meeting of the season, when they blew out New Orleans 96-80 at home.

Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard has been able to average 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game against the Pelicans in his career, while shooting guard Danny Green has scored 7.9 points per game against them in 11 games. Veteran big man Tim Duncan has gone up against New Orleans 44 times in his career, averaging 17.2 points and 9.7 boards per game against them.

On Tuesday night, the Pelicans couldn't get their offense going against the Indiana Pacers and lost 96-84 on the road. They made less than 40 percent of their shot attempts in that loss and also turned the ball over 15 times.

Through their first 28 games this season, the Pelicans have one of the worst defenses in the Western Conference by allowing opposing offenses to average 102.2 points per game against them. Power forward Anthony Davis has a league-best 32.8 PER right now by averaging 24.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 1.7 steals per game for the Pelicans.
