The San Antonio Spurs were able to use great bench play to rout the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-86 the last time they faced each other. 51 of San Antonio's 104 points were scored by their reserves, who were forced into more action than normal due to multiple injuries to the Spurs' regulars.

San Antonio, who moved to 15-5 at home on the season with the win, got off to a good start by outscoring the Wolves 28-21 in the first quarter. Minnesota was able to cut into that lead in the second quarter, though, and went into the half down by just three points. The Timberwolves, who came into the game with one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, were held to just 37 points in the second half and ended up losing the game by 18.

Spurs power forward Tim Duncan had a good night in the win, scoring 15 points, grabbing eight rebounds and blocking four shots. Tony Parker finished the game with a double-double, scoring 14 points and dishing out 10 assists in the win.

Wolves center Nikola Pekovic had 22 points and six rebounds for the road team.

The Spurs, who already had Tiago Splitter and Manu Ginobili out with injuries, lost shooting guard Danny Green to a finger injury early on in the second quarter. That forced coach Popovich to play some of their backups more than he normally would.
