On Wednesday night, the San Antonio Spurs were able to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 109-103 to take a 3-2 lead in their quarterfinal series. Both teams protected the ball well in the game, but the Spurs were just a bit better by only turning it over five times.

Despite the close score, the Spurs looked in control of the game pretty much the whole night. They were up by nine points at the half, and then were able to hold off the Mavs the rest of the way before winning the game by six points.

Tiago Splitter had his best game of the series for the Spurs by making seven of his 10 field goal attempts and he ended up with 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the win. Tony Parker only made nine of his 23 shots in the game, but he did finish with a team-high 23 points and also had five assists. Tim Duncan had another double-double for San Antonio by finishing with 16 points, 12 boards and three blocks.

Vince Carter came off of the bench for the Mavericks and went 7-for-9 from three-point land and finished with a game-high 28 points. Dirk Nowitzki also had a solid game in the loss, scoring 26 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Point guard Monta Ellis added 21 points and Samuel Dalembert had nine rebounds for the visitors.
