In game 2 of the Western Conference first round game between the No. 1 seeded San Antonio Spurs and the No. 8 seeded Dallas Mavericks, the Spurs looked pedestrian. With the series tied at 1 game each, the Spurs will travel to the American Airlines Center in Dallas to take on the Mavericks. Game 3 will be held on Saturday afternoon.

The Spurs turned the ball over too often for them to even have a chance at getting the win in game 2. They didn’t look like the team that finished with the best record in the National Basketball Association this season. They went 62-20 during the regular season and were the most consistent team in the league. Thus far through 2 games in the series, they have been led by their regular leaders. Manu Ginobili leads the team with 22 points per game, while Tim Duncan is averaging 19 PPG and 7 rebounds per game.

The Mavericks did most of their damage in game 2 without even getting much production from their leader, Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki scored 16 points in game 2, but it took him 19 field goal attempts. The team was led by Monta Ellis (21 points), Shawn Marion (20 points, 5 rebounds), and Devin Harris (18 points, 5 assists). They will need to get production from these players, plus Jose Calderon, if they want to have a chance to advance in the series.
