Vince Carter was able to make a game-winning three to help the Dallas Mavericks beat the San Antonio Spurs 109-108 to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The Spurs were actually the better team statistically in this one, shooting 54% from the field and they ended up with a 14-4 advantage in the steals column.
The game was close throughout and it looked like the Spurs were going to hold on for the win until Carter had his moment of magic. He got the ball in the corner with just 1.7 seconds remaining and was able to hit the game-winner over two defenders.
Carter came off the bench to score 11 points in the game, including that game-winning buzzer beater. Monta Ellis stepped up big time for the Mavs in this one and ended up with a game-high 29 points after making 12 of his 22 field goal attempts. Dirk Nowitzki added 18 points, seven rebounds and two steals in the win.
Spurs star Tim Duncan went 8-for-14 from the field in the game and finished with 22 points, five rebounds and three blocks in the losing effort. Tiago Splitter made six of his eight shots and ended up with 14 points and 13 boards. Manu Ginobili came off the bench for San Antonio and had 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
