On Friday, the Sacramento Kings will head south and take on the Phoenix Suns in a battle of Western Conference foes. The Kings are off to a red-hot start, as they have won four of their first five and are currently fifth in the Western Conference. Phoenix has won three of their first five, including a 2-1 record at home so far.

The Phoenix Suns dropped a 102-91 decision on Wednesday night to Memphis. The loss came despite 23 points from guard Eric Bledsoe, and 20 more from power forward Markieff Morris. Through five games, Phoenix is led in scoring by point guard Isaiah Thomas, who is putting in 18.6 per game. The Suns defensively have allowed 102.8 points per game, while they are scoring just over 101. P.J. Tucker, the team’s leader in steals, missed the first three games of the season to serve penalty for an off-season DUI.

The Sacramento Kings, following their season opening loss to Golden State, have put together wins over Portland, the Los Angeles Clippers and back-to-back over Denver. The Kings are playing their first of four road games, with trips to Oklahoma City, Dallas and Memphis to follow. The Kings leading scorer through five games has been Rudy Gay, with just shy of 25 per game. DeMarcus Cousins has put together a fine start to the season as well, grabbing 10.6 rebounds per game, and also adding 24 points per game.
