The New Orleans Pelicans and the Portland Trail Blazers last met at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on December 30th. The Pelicans beat the Trail Blazers 110-108. This game went down to the final seconds and was a great contest to watch. The Portland Trail Blazers only took the lead twice during the game, but they kept the game close the entire time.

New Orleans’ Jrue Holiday had thirty one points, which was at the time a season high for him. Fifteen of his points came in the fourth quarter. The Trail Blazers, who at one point allowed the Pelicans to go on a twelve to nothing run, almost stole the game with a late three point jumper, but it was not in the cards for them.

Holiday’s performance was impressive, but it was Tyreke Evans who scored a pull-up jumper with just over one second to play which put the Pelicans ahead by two points for the win. Currently Portland is only five games behind the Spurs in the West. The Pelicans are not doing as well and are a full twenty one games behind San Antonio.
