When these two teams last met last it was an extremely high scoring game. The Phoenix Suns broke a lot of records in their 129-120 win against the Atlanta Hawks. Although defense was not a huge priority for the Suns, they set their season high in overall point total, points in the first-half (79), and assists (29). The US Airways Center had never seen 79 points in one half, which broke a record for the venue and made it the most points in the first half by any NBA team this season.

Gerald Green of the Suns hit 5 of 6 three pointers in the first half and finished the game with 33 points. Marcus Morris added 18 points and 9 rebounds coming off the bench, while his twin brother Markieff added 21 points and eight rebounds. Goran Dragic, with the crowd chanting “MVP”, scored 18 points.

Although the Hawks were outscored and out-played, they still put up some pretty good numbers themselves. Jeff Teague had 29 points and eight assists, while Mike Scott had 20 points. Kyle Korver made six of seven 3-pointers to finish with 18 points.

Leandro Barbosa was playing in his first game for Phoenix, back from a five-game absence due to a sprained toe. He scored five key points in the fourth quarter that helped keep the Hawks out of reach. The Suns never held less than a five-point lead throughout the whole fourth quarter. Although Atlanta made it close quite a few times, the Suns always came through with an answer.
