The last time the San Antonio Spurs played the Philadelphia 76ers, they cruised to an easy win with a 109-85 victory. The win got the defending Western Conference champions off to a 7-1 start. Despite a huge blowout, the team didn't even need their All-Star center Tim Duncan, as he was sitting the game out to rest some minor ailments.

Picking up the slack for the Spurs were Danny Green, who scored 18 points, Tony Parker with14 points, Kawhi Leonard with 11 points, and Tiago Splitter had 11 points and six rebounds. Manu Ginobili did not start but he did contribute eight points, one rebound, and one assist. All of the starters were on the bench by the start of the fourth. The Spurs were up 19 at the half, and by the middle of the third they had increased that lead to a 29 point margin.

The Spurs went on a 14-0 run in the first quarter and took a 31-13 lead when the quarter ended. The Sixers missed their first seven shots of the game while San Antonio had seven players score in the first 12 minutes. The Sixers had a little run when the Spurs found themselves missing their first seven shots of the second quarter that led to a Sixers 10-0 run. Evan Turner scored 20 points and Spencer Hawes had 17 points for the Sixers.
