The Philadelphia 76ers will visit the Indiana Pacers in a game that will be challenging for both teams. The challenge for both teams may be for internal reasons more than anything else. The Pacers are without their 2 time All-Star Paul George due to injury. George suffered a broken leg in a Team USA scrimmage this off-season. George averaged 21.7 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Pacers last season. George believes he will play at some point this NBA season, but there is no estimated date of return. The team is also down David West, George Hill and C.J. Watson due to injuries. These injuries and the loss of Lance Stephenson force the Pacers to start 4 new players in this season opener. This is a rough start for the two-time Eastern Conference Final runner-ups. As bad as it sounds for the Pacers, the 76ers have it worse.

Philadelphia had the 2nd worst record in the NBA last year and it is unlikely we will see much improvement this year. Michael Carter-Williams, winner of Rookie of the Year in the 2013-2014 season, is arguably the team’s best player. He will be out until November 13th due to shoulder surgery. It is unlikely that the 76ers will rush Michael Carter-Williams return. They have been rebuilding their team the past few years and still have plenty more to accomplish. Philadelphia doesn’t have much to look forward to other than a good draft pick at the end of the season.
