In a battle of two of the lower-ranked teams in the league, the Orlando Magic beat Los Angeles Lakers 114-105 thanks to a big third quarter when these 2 last played. The Lakers had a three-point lead going into the half, but the Magic put on a shooting clinic in the third by outscoring LA 38-25. The Lakers didn't have their star Kobe Bryant to bring them back and Orlando was able to hold on for the home win.

The best player on the night for Orlando was third-year forward Tobias Harris. The 21-year-old scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down a career-best 20 rebounds in the win. 19 of those rebounds were defensive, which kept the Lakers from getting the second-chance points they are used to from their bigs. The Magic had two other players besides Harris score over 20 points. Veteran point guard Jameer Nelson had 22 points and Arron Afflalo finished the game with 23.

Pau Gasol was Los Angeles' best player on the night, scoring 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Second-year player Kendall Marshall finished the game with 19 points and 14 assists in the losing cause.

Both teams shot well from beyond the three-point line, as the Lakers made 12-22 (54.5 percent) and the Magic made 9-17 (52.9 percent). The Magic ended the game with a 51-40 rebounding advantage.
