The Oklahoma City Thunder are set to take on the L.A. Clippers in what is likely to be a blow out victory for the Clippers. The Thunder are having a rough start to the season with more injuries every day. The team recently lost Reggie Jackson and Jeremy Lamb due to ankle and back injuries. Their Star player and last year’s MVP Kevin Durant will sit with an injured foot. Mitch McGary, Anthony Morrow, and Grant Jerrett are also out with injuries. Head Couch Scott Brooks has accepted their unfortunate situation and will take 9 healthy players to face the L.A. Clippers. He is excited about the return of Kendrick Perkins, who missed several preseason games with a strained quad. Perkins will not start over Steven Adams, but Coach Brooks claims the starting job is not a major concern. Brooks needs both players in every game because they bring something different to the floor. Perkins has an unmatched level of toughness that spreads to his teammates on the court. Adams is more consistent offensively, but tends to get in foul trouble.
If the Clippers expect to improve on the past 2 seasons as Division Champions, and earn an NBA Championship, they need to roll through the Thunder with ease. Blake Griffin admits to needing to step up his rebounding, but no one can deny that he is an offensive force. Spencer Hawes, the 7-foot Center, was an excellent addition to the team by Head Coach Doc Rivers. He is a big body and an outside shooting threat. His presence will open up the floor for Chris Paul penetrate the lane and keep double teams off of Blake Griffin. The Clippers also have several outside shooting threats coming off the bench. This season should be very successful for the Clippers and the Thunder cannot compete with them until they get healthy.
