The New York Knicks were able to parlay a huge first quarter into an early-March win the last time they played the Utah Jazz. New York limited their turnovers throughout the game and shot about 50% on the night to move a bit closer to the final playoff spot in the Easter Conference.

It may have been a tight game had the Utah Jazz played any sort of defense in the first quarter. New York scored 39 in that quarter alone, while the Jazz only put up 22.

Carmelo Anthony was a big part of that first quarter, scoring 18 points in that period alone before finishing the night with 29. Anthony also added 8 assists and only turned the ball over two times in the win.

Tyson Chandler made 8 of his 10 field goal attempts on the night to score 16 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds for the home side. Shooting guard J.R. Smith blocked three shots to go along with his 17 points.

Utah's Gordon Hayward was the best player for the Jazz in this one, scoring 18 points, pulling down 7 rebounds and adding five assists for the solid all-around game. Third-year point guard Alec Burks came off of the bench to contribute 18 points in the loss.

The Knicks had just 7 turnovers in the game, while forcing the Jazz into coughing the ball up 19 times.
