Tuesday night, the New York Knicks will visit the New Orleans Pelicans.

The New York Knicks had a tough time of it in their last game on Sunday night and the end result was 103 – 99 loss to the Portland Trailblazers.  The loss was the 8th straight for New York and the 12th defeat in their last 13 games.  And the Knicks didn’t need to lose this game.  They had battled back to take a slim lead late in the 4th quarter but they ran out of steam and allowed Portland to make a late surge.  The Knicks could still be adjusting to a new head coach and a new system which could be hampering them early on.  But at the end of the day, you still need to get the ball in the basket and you still need to play defense.  New York will need to get back to the fundamentals if they want to get back on the winning side of the scoreboard.  They might have a shot against an equally bad New Orleans team.

The New Orleans Pelicans broke a two game losing streak on Sunday night as they outlasted the Los Angeles Lakers 104 – 87.  The win allowed the Pelicans to escape the possibility of losing all three of the games on their road trip.  New Orleans jumped out to an early lead over the punch-less Lakers and was able to hold back the Lakers attempts to get back into the game.  But make no mistake; this was not the Los Angeles Lakers of old.  The Pelicans will face a desperate New York Knicks that are bent on ending their losing streak and that could make a tough game for New Orleans.  The Pelicans will need another complete performance on both ends of the floor if they want to take their winning streak to 2 games.
