The Knicks played decent down the stretch but it wasn't enough to capture the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. What's worse for the Knicks is that they won't even get a lottery pick as that is heading to Orlando via Denver as the Carmelo Anthony trade still gets sorted out. The Nets are in the playoffs and will head on the road right away in round 1, it's just a matter if they'll face Chicago or Toronto.

The Knicks were officially headed home early after an upset win by the Hawks over the Heat on Saturday night. New York simply needed to be better than mediocre to close out the season, something they couldn't quite accomplish by going 5-5 over a 10 game stretch from March 23rd to April 11th.

The Nets on the other hand did what they needed to do to hold onto their 5th spot in the East. Prior to losing two straight last Wednesday and Friday to Orlando and Atlanta, Brooklyn had won 6 of 8 games. They look to get on the winning track as they look towards a 1st round upset with their veteran-laden roster.

The Knicks own the season series 2-1 thus far, including a win already this month. Brooklyn was playing the second leg of a back-to-back when the teams met up on April 2nd and the Knicks promptly dealt them a 21-point throttling as -2.5 point favorites. It was a payback of sorts for the 103-80 Nets win on January 20th at the Garden.
