The New York Knicks will try to break out of their scoring slump on Friday when they on the road to take on the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks were able to win three out of their four games against the Nets a season ago.

On Wednesday, the Knicks scored 36 points in the fourth quarter of their game against the Detroit Pistons, but that still wasn't enough as they lost 98-95. Their one issue in that game was on the boards, losing the rebounding battle 55-43 on the night.

The Knicks are second to last in the NBA in scoring offense with just 89.8 points scored per game. All-Star Carmelo Anthony is averaging a team-high 19.6 points per game, but he has only made 40.6 percent of his shots. Veteran power forward Amar'e Stoudemire is averaging 11.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game through five games.

The Nets didn't take care of the ball in their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday and ended up losing 98-91. They made just 11 of their 17 free throws in that loss and they turned the ball over 18 times.

Through four games, the Nets have scored 103.5 points per game while giving up 98.5 points per game to their opponents. Shooting guard Joe Johnson has been very good through four games, averaging 22 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for Brooklyn. Point guard Deron Williams is scoring 17.5 points per game and dishing out 7.3 assists per game.
