The Minnesota Timberwolves had an early-season nail-biter the last time they played the Orlando Magic when they were able to beat them 120-115 in overtime. It was the first game of the season for the Wolves and the second for the Magic.

The Timberwolves got off to a flying start in the game, scoring 38 and holding Orlando to 27 in the first quarter. Orlando was able to overcome that deficit, though, by outscoring Minnesota in each of the last three quarters of regulation and forced the overtime period. The Wolves were actually down by three with less than 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter, but a Kevin Love three-pointer sent it into overtime. In OT, the Wolves were able to hit their threes and pull off the hard-fought victory.

Love was easily the best player on the court all night and ended up with 31 points and 17 rebounds. Point guard Ricky Rubio also had a double-double, scoring 13 and adding 11 rebounds to his stat line. Dante Cunningham came off the bench for the Wolves and scored 10 points and grabbed 6 boards.

Arron Afflalo was the Magic's best player, scoring a team-high 28 points after making 11 of his 22 field goal attempts. Big man Nikola Vucevic added 22 points, 16 rebounds, three blocks and three steals in the losing effort.
