The Brooklyn Nets last faced the Minnesota Timberwolves back in late November in a game that Minnesota won 111-81 during the Nets' worst run of the season. All five Minnesota starters scored in double figures and used a great first quarter to dominate the Nets throughout. The Nets fell to 1-7 on the road at that point in the season and 3-9 overall.

The Timberwolves got off to a hot start in this one, scoring 30 points in the first period and holding the Nets to just 14. They used that great start to take a 20-point lead into the half, which all but put Brooklyn away. After adding another 11 points to their lead in the third quarter, the Wolves were able to cruise to the 30-point victory. One of the reasons why the Nets were no match for the Wolves was that they were missing four key players. Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Jason Terry and Andrei Kirilenko all missed the game due to injuries.

Kevin Love scored 17 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the win. Ricky Rubio scored 12 and added eight assists for the home side, who ended the game with a 28-7 advantage in the assist department.

Joe Johnson was the only Nets starter who ended up in double figures, scoring 15 points in the loss. Andray Blatche was Brooklyn's top player off of the bench, scoring 16 but also ending the game with a -23 +/-.
