A big third quarter for the New Orleans Pelicans helped in knocking off the Milwaukee Bucks when the two teams last played less than a month ago. With Anthony Davis having an off night and in foul trouble for much of the time, Alexis Ajinca picked up the slack. Ajinca finished the night with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and a block and helped his team to a 102-98 win. The Bucks thought they had gotten a break when Davis got his fourth foul in the third and had to sit but Ajinca played great and was 7-of-7 from the field. He also had help from Eric Gordon who added 21 points and six assists.
Even after the third quarter, the game was still in question coming down to the last minute of the fourth quarter when the Bucks had two costly turnovers. Pair that with the great team effort the Pelicans displayed and it ended up being the nail in the coffin.
Seven of New Orleans players scored in double digits in this game.
Milwaukee was led by Brandon Knight with 22 points, two rebounds and nine assists. Ersan Ilyasova also had a solid game with 16 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
In the last 10 head-to-head matchups between New Orleans and Milwaukee, the Pelicans have won five of the last six times. New Orleans is also 7-3 against the spread when playing Milwaukee and have covered in the last three home games when these two have faced off.
That being said, the New Orleans Pelicans have only covered twice over their last 10 games in total. They did, however, cover in their last game against the Los Angeles Lakers but the spread hasn't been kind to bettors counting on the Pelicans to come through. Milwaukee has been much better ATS over the last month and covered in the only two away games they've played recently. Both teams are trending opposite ways.
