These two teams last meeting was a game where every fan was happy they spent the money to go watch some basketball.  The score was always close and each team was in the game down to the final seconds.  At no point in the game was either team ahead by more than a few points.

The Pelicans managed to pull out the 95-92 victory over the Grizzlies on Jan. 20, but it was a close game which ended in an exciting shot by Brian Roberts of the Grizzlies.  The Grizzlies were able to pull within three points of the Pelicans with seconds left on the clock.  The Grizzlies head coach decided not to foul the Pelicans which allowed the Grizzlies to get the ball back still down three points.  Unfortunately for Memphis Brian Roberts missed a shot which would have tied the game and the Pelicans were able to get the rebound as time expired.

As of this writing, Memphis is currently ten games behind the Spurs, the Western Conference leaders, and the Pelicans are twenty and a half games behind.   Memphis has been playing well lately and has strung together two five game winning streaks a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately the same is not true for the New Orleans Pelicans who have struggled to string together more than two or three wins in a row this season.
