The Los Angeles Lakers continued their downward spiral when they last faced the Utah Jazz, losing 96-79 at home, which was their sixth straight loss overall. Los Angeles was missing six of their regulars, including superstar Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers started the game playing very well on both sides of the floor, but Utah took off in the second quarter when they scored 32 points and held the Lakers to just 10. The 22-point differential in that quarter was one of the worst in the history of the Lakers franchise.

Jazz backup point guard Alec Burks was able to come off of the bench in this one and lead the team in scoring with 24 points. Jeremy Evans also came off of the bench to have a good game, scoring 14 points and also getting three steals and two blocks in the win. Center Derrick Favors had a double-double in the win by scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Chris Kaman was the Lakers' best player in this one, scoring 25 points and grabbing 14 boards in the loss. Small forward Wesley Johnson ended up with 15 points and six rebounds, while Steve Blake contributed eight assists for the visitors. The Lakers' bench scored a total of just 21 points, which was one of the main reasons why they couldn't keep up with the Jazz in this one.
