The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns will hook-up on Wednesday night for the first game of the season for the Suns. The Lakers will be playing their second in as many nights, as they take on Houston on Tuesday night.  Both the Lakers and Suns are looking to improve upon their struggles of a season ago. The Lakers finished with the second worst record in all of the Western Conference last year; with a 27-55 record. For Phoenix, they failed to make the postseason, winning 48 games.

The Los Angeles Lakers went 27-55 a season ago, and won just 6 of 16 divisional games. The Lakers won just 3 pre-season games this fall. The Lakers are looking to guys like Wayne Ellington and Ronnie Price to fill in for the injured Steve Nash. A report earlier said Nash would likely be out for the season. Kobe Bryant returns this season, and he will be aided by the veteran Carlos Boozer.

For the Phoenix Suns, they are hoping for another big time scoring season out of guard Goran Dragic. The guard scored just under 21 points per game last season. Phoenix also enjoyed the big man Miles Plumlee, and his 7.8 rebounds per game. The Suns during the pre-season won 5 out of 7 games. In the finale, a 105-100 win over the Utah Jazz, they saw Dragic score 18 points, along with 17 from Markieff Morris and 14 from point guard Eric Bledsoe. Phoenix will face a tough start, after they host the Lakers, they will welcome the San Antonio Spurs to town on Friday.
