Wednesday night, the Indiana Pacers will take the court at the Verizon Center as they face the Washington Wizards.
The Indiana Pacers will enter the Nation’s Capital after a Tuesday night game at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. So far this season, the biggest opposition to the Pacers’ success seems to be the Pacers. Just as they did at times last season, the Pacers are starting games flat and staying there. It’s almost an insult to call the effort on the defensive end lackluster. And the Pacers have been turning over the ball way too much this early in the season. All of the problems could be attributed to the numerous injuries that the Pacers have suffered already and the fact that guys are getting more minutes than they are used to playing. But deep down, it looks like the Pacers are suffering a lack of confidence no matter who is on the court. And that is not the best thing against a Wizards team that is playing well to start the year.
The Washington Wizards will be back home Wednesday night after a Tuesday night game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Washington has come out of the gates strong this season and is playing some of the best ball the franchise has seen in recent years. Wizards head coach Randy Wittman is getting contributions from everyone as the Wizards are spreading the ball around. When you have a balanced attack like that, it makes it hard for opposing defenses to shut down one player if they are afraid that someone else will step up. With the Pacers basically going to sleep on the defensive end, the Wizards are going to get some opportunities. If they take advantage, they will have a good shot at posting another win.
