The Indiana Pacers need 12 wins in their last 16 games to tie the 61 win season franchise mark put up by Reggie Miller, Ron Artest and the gang in the 2003/04 season. The Knicks would need nothing short of a miracle down the stretch to make up a 3.5 game deficit with only 15 contests left. Much of the focus in New York is on resigning Carmelo Anthony in the offseason and seeing what kind of team president Phil Jackson can field for next year. However, Knicks players and coach Mike Woodson aren't ready to give up on the season just yet. New York has somewhat quietly won 6 straight games, going 5-1 ATS during that time. A win against Indiana would be huge as the next four games following Wednesday night's game are against Philadelphia, Cleveland, the Lakers, and Sacramento, which could end up a possible 11 game win streak.
The Pacers haven't exactly been themselves down the stretch. Nobody is sure if the poor play is a sign of internal team struggles or just losing focus in anticipation of the playoffs. Indiana lost 4 straight starting with a March 4th loss to Golden State and their recent victories have been against the overmatched 76ers, Celtics, and Pistons.
If Indiana can match their offensive output from the last meeting against New York they should be in line for a victory. Behind 28 points from Lance Stephenson and 25 from Paul George, Indiana was able to score 30+ points in three of four quarters en route to a 117-89 win as 9.5 point favorites while pushing the total of 184 well over.
