When the Oklahoma City Thunder visited the Houston Rockets on Jan. 16 of this year, it ended up being a record setting performance for the Rockets. However, this wasn't the kind of record the Rockets wanted to set. The Thunder were able to win this game 104-92 after a monumental collapse by the Rockets in which they scored a total of 19 points in the second half after being up 73-59 at the end of the first half. In the first half of this game, Houston scored 12 3-pointers. After the half, the Rockets didn't hit another shot from behind the arc.
Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 36 points, five rebounds and seven assists. Serge Ibaka also had a stellar game contributing 21 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. Reggie Jackson added 23 points, two rebounds, four assists and six steals.
James Harden led the Rockets with 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Terrence Jones had 16 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Amazingly enough, the Rockets were still winning by 12 with four minutes left in the third quarter. Oklahoma City then went on a 15-3 run to tie the game going into the fourth quarter. Oklahoma City was then able to keep up the defensive pressure and pull away in this one.
In a comparison of two halves, Houston scored 73 in the first half, shot 57 percent from the field, was 12-20 from behind the arc and had five turnovers. In the second half, the Rockets scored 19 points, shot 19 percent from the field, was 0-14 from three and had 12 turnovers.
