With a 2 point win over the Phoenix Suns, the Detroit Pistons used Josh Smith and his last-minute drive to the rim to win the game 110-108 the last time these 2 teams played. Smith had 25 points and 11 rebounds and Brandon Jennings helped out with 18 assists, the most in the NBA this season. To go along with those 18 assists Jennings also had 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Jennings didn't accomplish very much in the fourth quarter, but Will Bynum came off the bench to pitch in with 8 of his 16 points coming in the fourth. Channing Frye led Phoenix with 21 points. After trailing in the third, the Suns managed to tie the game up with a 13-3 run to start the fourth quarter. The Pistons were not ready to give up though, as they put together a run of their own that netted them seven points with no answer from the Suns.

With the score 105-97, the Suns came back with eight more points, tying the game up with a 3-pointer by P.J. Tucker with 51.2 seconds to go. Smith got involved with a 3-pointer of his own, while the shot clock expired, putting the Pistons up 108-105. But then he turned around and fouled Gerald Green while he was taking a 3-pointer. Green made all three of his free throws to tie the game up with 4.3 seconds remaining. Thankfully Smith still had something up his sleeve. The ensuing inbound pass went to Smith, who drove to his right and then switched hands and got the game winner up over a well defending Frye.
