The Denver Nuggets started off well the last time they played the San Antonio Spurs, but a late surge by the home team saw the Spurs secure a 102-94 win in the early part of the season. San Antonio has long been known for its pesky defense, but it wasn't until the fourth quarter where they really showed it off. They were able to limit the Nuggets to just 16 points in the final quarter, which was enough to keep Denver from getting its first win of the season.

Denver did so well in the early parts of the game that their overall numbers look good enough for a team to get a win. They shot 42 percent on the night, including making nine of the 19 three-pointers that they attempted in the game. Their downfall ended up being 22 turnovers, thanks in large part to the Spurs' tough defense late in the game.

Tony Parker was the top player for San Antonio in this one, scoring 24 points and dishing out six assists. Tim Duncan was close to a triple-double in the game, as he had 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Kenneth Faried, who was starting for the first time after dealing with hamstring issues, had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Nuggets. Ty Lawson added 20 points and eight assists in the losing effort.
