On Dec. 27, the Denver Nuggets traveled to the Smoothie King Center to face the New Orleans Pelicans. Behind Tyreke Evans' stellar performance, the Pelicans were able to cruise right past the Nuggets 105-89.
Evans flirted with a triple-double by tallying 19 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists and two steals off the bench. This made two nights in a row where Evans had recorded a double-double and the second straight victory. The Pelicans got 17 points and seven rebounds out of Anthony Davis while Jrue Holiday contributed with 17 points, four rebounds and eight assists.
The Nuggets had trailed by as much as 18 in the second quarter and brought the game within six points with less than three minutes to go with a 3-pointer from Quincy Miller. Holiday came back and tossed an alley-oop to Davis, hit a floater, and then got a steal and the assist to Evans to seal the victory for the Pelicans.
Denver also wasn't helped from the 3-point line in which they shot a mere 26 percent from behind the arc going 6-for-23.
Denver is 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 head-to-head matchups with New Orleans. However, the Pelicans have played better at home against the Nuggets by winning the last three straight up and ATS.
New Orleans will hope this trend against Denver continues because they've not been playing well over the last month. At one point starting in Feb. the Pelicans had lost eight games straight up and lost ATS in six of them. New Orleans will be looking to get some wins at home as they played away from home in 8 of the last 10 games and more recently, five straight away games.
