On Friday night, the Denver Nuggets will be hoping that they can pick up their first road win of the year when they go up against the Indiana Pacers. Last season, the Nuggets and the Pacers split their two-game regular season series.
The Nuggets gave up 84 first-half points to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday and ended up taking a 130-113 home loss. Their defense couldn't cover the three-point shot in that game, allowing the Blazers to make 16 shots from beyond the arc.
Through their first seven games, the Nuggets have the second-worst defense in the league by giving up 111.1 points per game. Point guard Ty Lawson has had a pretty good start to the season by averaging 16.7 points and 7.5 assists per game. Forward Kenneth Faried has grabbed eight rebounds per game, but he is only scoring 11.4 points per game.
On Wednesday, the Pacers won their second game in a row when they defeated the Miami Heat 81-75 on the road. They were fantastic on the boards in that win, finishing with a 53-28 rebounding advantage.
The Pacers are near the bottom of the league in scoring right now with just 91.7 points scored per game. Their best player has been center Roy Hibbert, who has averaged 14.8 points and a team-best 8.7 boards per game. Small forward Chris Copeland is averaging 15.6 points and 5.4 rebounds, but he is also turning the ball over 2.7 times per game.
