The No. 1 seed San Antonio Spurs were able to come back to even the series at 2-2 with the No. 8 seed Dallas Mavericks by beating them 93-89 on Monday night. The Spurs made just five of their 17 three-point attempts in the game, but they played good defense and held the Mavs to just 38.1% shooting from the field.
Dallas started out pretty well in the game and went into the second quarter with a five-point lead. The Spurs turned it on in that second period, though, and outscored the Mavs 32-13 to take a 14-point lead into the half. The Spurs extended their lead to 20 points in the third quarter, but the Mavs were able to stage a huge comeback and almost pulled off the win.
Shooting guard Manu Ginobili came off the bench to lead the way for the Spurs and ended up scoring 23 points and assisted on five other baskets. Tim Duncan had a double-double for the visitors by scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the win.
Monta Ellis led the Mavericks in scoring with 20 points, but he made just six of his 20 shots in the game. Dirk Nowitzki had 19 points and seven rebounds for Dallas, but he also shot pretty poorly by making just seven of his 19 field goal attempts.
