The Dallas Mavericks face off against the San Antonio Spurs tonight in a game that the Mavericks have been highly anticipating. The Spurs eliminated the Mavs from last year’s playoffs in the AT&T Center, the very location of this season opener. The Mavs will wait for their chance to defeat the Spurs while watching the returning Champions’ Ring Ceremony.

Raymond Felton, for the Mavericks, will be out this game with an injury and pending suspension. Even though they are down Felton, the team is excited about the recent upgrades to their roster. They have sought out players that excel in the pick-and-roll style offense. Jameer Nelson, Richard Jefferson, Greg Smith, Chandler Parsons, and Tyson Chandler are all seasoned pick-and-roll specialists. The Spurs have a strong recent history of Championships. Ginobili, Parker, and Duncan have been a huge part of that history. Their chemistry on the basketball court naturally spreads to their teammates. Ginobili recently commented on his age; he realizes his future chances for Championships are limited. He expects the Ring Ceremony to be emotional.

These talented teams are likely to put on a great show for NBA fans. To call this game a state rivalry is an understatement. The Ring Ceremony will remind both teams what is ahead for one team this NBA season. The Mavericks and Spurs will go head to head in a match-up that will show the entire league what it will take to be this year’s NBA Champion.
