The Dallas Mavericks can't be too happy that they have to face San Antonio Spurs in the first round of playoffs because they lost all four of the regular season meetings between the teams. The Spurs have the advantage over the Mavs in just about every statistical category besides free throw shooting, where Dallas shot about 80% and the Spurs shot about 79%.

The Spurs, who come in as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, were able to beat the Mavs 109-100 in their last meeting of the season on April 10. San Antonio was able to win all four games over Dallas pretty comfortably, winning by an average of 11.5 points. They won the second game of the season series by 22 points back in early January.

The ageless Tim Duncan was once again the Spurs' best player this season after averaging 15.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Tony Parker averaged 16.7 points and 5.7 assists on the season, while Manu Ginobili came off the bench all year to average 12.3 points and 4.3 assists.

Mavs power forward Dirk Nowitzki had his best season since the 2008-09 campaign after averaging 21.7 points and 6.2 rebounds while making about 40% of his three-point attempts. Guard Monta Ellis was the team's second-leading scorer with 19 PPG, while veteran Shawn Marion averaged 10.4 points and 6.5 boards.
