The Charlotte Hornets will go for their third straight victory on Sunday night when they take on the winless Los Angeles Lakers. Last season, the Hornets and the Lakers each picked up a win in their two-game series.

On Friday night, the Hornets came back in the fourth quarter in their game against the Atlanta Hawks and ended up winning 122.119 in overtime. They were great on the boards in that one, outrebounding the Hawks 51-38.

The Hornets have been one of the best teams at sharing the ball this season, averaging 23.5 assists per game. Veteran Al Jefferson has been solid through six game by averaging 22.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has been able to average 11 points and 6.8 rebounds per game so far this season.

The Lakers had yet another disappointing loss on Tuesday when they lost 112-106 to the Phoenix Suns. Their bad shooting continued in that loss as they were only able to make 39.8 percent of their shots.

Through five games, the Lakers have the worst defense in the league by giving up 116.8 points per game to their opponents. Shooting guard Kobe Bryant has averaged a team-high 27.6 points per game, but he is only making 40 percent of his shots. Center Jordan Hill is averaging 14.8 points per game and a team-high 9.2 rebounds per game.
