The No. 2 seed Miami Heat come into their series with the No. 7 seed Charlotte Bobcats as huge favorites after beating them in all four meetings in their season series. Both teams finished with top five defenses this season, but the Heat scored 102.2 points per game while the Bobcats scored just 96.9. One area where the Bobcats are a bit better than the Heat is in the rebounding department, where they ranked 16th with 42.7 rebounds per game and the Heat were last in the league with 36.9.

The Bobcats have the added weight of losing 15 straight games to the Heat dating back to the 2010-11 season. The last game between these two teams was played in early March when the Heat were able to dominate all game and came away with a 124-107 home win.

LeBron James was once again one of the best players in the NBA after averaging 27.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. Dwyane Wade had injuries to play through this year but he ended up coming on strong late in the year and averaged 19 points and 4.7 assists per game.

Al Jefferson was the Bobcats' leader and had one of the best seasons of his career by averaging 21.8 points and 10.8 rebounds. Third-year point guard Kemba Walker matched his career-high in points with 17.7 per game and also had a career-best 6.1 assists per game.
