The Toronto Raptors used solid first and fourth quarters in their Game 4 matchup with the Brooklyn Nets to win 87-79 and even the series at 2-2. Neither team shot particularly well from beyond the three-point line in the game, but the Raptors were able to make 19 of their 23 free throws while the Nets shot just 65.5% from the charity stripe.

The Raptors played their best basketball of the series so far in the first quarter of the game and ended up outscoring the Nets 35-22. They extended their lead to 17 in the second quarter, but Brooklyn came back and the two teams were tied going into the fourth. The Raptors stepped it up once again that that final period and were able to hold on for the eight-point win.

The Raptors' top player in the road win was shooting guard DeMar DeRozan, who had a game-high 24 points and also contributed five rebounds. Kyle Lowry also played well for Toronto with 22 points and four rebounds, while power forward Amir Johnson added 17 points, five rebounds and two steals for the visitors.

Veteran small forward Paul Pierce played well for the Nets by shooting 9-for-14 from the field and he ended up with 22 points and five rebounds in the loss. Kevin Garnett and Deron Williams had 10 points apiece for Brooklyn, while Mirza Teletovic came off of the bench to score 12 points and grab five rebounds.
