The Brooklyn Nets were able to get the most out of their veterans as they got a huge 94-87 road win over the Toronto Raptors to take the 1-0 lead in the series. The Nets made just four of their 24 three-point attempts in the game, but they made up for it by only turning the ball over eight times and forcing the Raptors into 17 turnovers.

Brooklyn came out of the gates looking like the better team, eventually outscoring the Raptors 29-21 in the first quarter. The game was pretty close from there on out, with the Raptors cutting the Nets' lead to just four going into the half. They were also only down three heading into the fourth quarter. The Nets' vets were able to make big shots and big stops in the final period, though, to help their team hang on for the win.

Shooting guard Joe Johnson made eight of his 13 field goal attempts in the game and ended up with 24 points and eight rebounds in the win. Paul Pierce made four of his five shot attempts in the fourth quarter and ended up with 15 points in the game. Deron Williams scored 24 points for the Nets.

The Raptors' best player in the game was center Jonas Valanciunas, who contributed a double-double in the losing effort with 17 points and 18 rebounds. Backup point guard Greivis Vasquez came off of the bench for Toronto to score 18 points and assist on eight other buckets.
