Even though Brooklyn likely won't catch Chicago or Toronto for the 4th spot in the Eastern Conference and home court in the first round, few would argue Jason Kidd's first season on the sideline has been anything but a success. The Nets only have a few games left on the docket until the postseason with a good mix of “where we stand” battles with Miami and the Knicks and with 2 games against Orlando and one against the Hawks.

The Nets do have the unfortunate task of taking on Orlando Wednesday just a day after what should be a good contest with Miami. They'll see the Magic in Brooklyn just 4 days later with a game against the Hawks sandwiched in between. The Nets thought they were on the right track with wins over Dallas and Houston in a six game span but subsequently lost an 81-110 throttling to the Knicks. Questions may remain in spite of two straight wins after that game considering the W's were earned against Detroit and Philadelphia.

The Magic will have the benefit of spending three straight off days at home with their last game coming Saturday night in a 100-92 win over the T'Wolves. There's admittedly not much to motivate Orlando and they'd actually be better off served losing these last 5 games but it hasn't stopped the Magic from upsetting Charlotte and Portland in addition to the Minnesota win in their last 6.

Brooklyn and Orlando have split their previous two matchups this season as the Magic won 107-86 on the 4th game of the season while the Nets got a win 101-90 on January 21st. Brooklyn was able to get the cover in that last game despite being favored by 9 with Andray Blatche leading the way with 18.
