The last time these two teams played, the Dallas Mavericks took on a hot Brooklyn Nets team in late January and lost 107-106. The win gave the Nets a 9-1 record that month, which was the best record in the NBA during that span. The Nets broke out in the second quarter thanks to backup forward Mirza Teletovic's shooting. He scored 24 points in that quarter alone and ended the game with a career-best 34.

Teletovic helped Brooklyn outscore the Mavs 39-25 in the second quarter and the Nets were able to keep the Mavericks from completing a late comeback. The Mavericks got to within three with about 10 seconds remaining in the game, but the Nets were able to hit their free throws to secure the win.

This was by far Teletovic's best game of the season. He went 12-of-18 from the floor, including making seven of his 11 three-point attempts. The second year forward from Bosnia also had six rebounds on the night.

Deron Williams, who also came off the bench for the Nets that night, scored 18 points and had 11 dimes in the winning effort. Kevin Garnett had a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) in just 20 minutes on the floor.

The Mavs actually out-rebounded the Nets 43-35 on the night and shot 50% from beyond the three-point line in the loss. Dirk Nowitzki had 18 points and Vince Carter scored 19 off the bench.
