The last time these two teams met, the Brooklyn Nets were able to extend their home winning streak to 10 games by beating the Charlotte Bobcats. Deron Williams scored 23 points in the game for the Nets, including 11 in the final six minutes of the fourth quarter.

After ending the first half with an 8-point lead, the Nets allowed the Bobcats to get back in the game. After Charlotte took a three point lead halfway through the fourth quarter, Brooklyn let Williams take over the game, which helped them retake the lead for good. Joe Johnson also had a nice game for the Nets, scoring 20 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. He and the rest of his teammates played good, sound offense in this one, limiting their turnover total to just 7. The Bobcats had 15 turnovers in the game, including five in the final quarter alone.

Al Jefferson (18 points, 12 rebounds) was the main reason why Charlotte was able to stay in the game as long as they did. Other than him, the Bobcats' starters  couldn't get it going on offense. They mostly had to rely on good contributions from their bench, including 17 points from Gary Neal and 13 from Chris Douglas-Roberts.

The win helped Brooklyn to stay near the top of the of the Eastern Conference standings, while Charlotte 's loss didn't effect their playoff chances too much.
