The Boston Celtics will visit Houston to face the Rockets on Saturday. Both teams are undefeated in the early stages of this season. Boston took down the Brooklyn Nets in their last match-up, winning by 16 points. The team showed a balanced approach to the game. The Celtics looked to score inside often and Kelly Olenek, playing Center, was able to capitalize by leading the team in scoring. Many of Boston’s guards crashed the boards and helped their bigs with rebounding. Point Guard Rajon Rondo grabbed 7 rebounds to lead his team in the category. Rondo is recovery from a hand injury, but it did not seem to affect his performance; with 3 more rebounds he would have earn a triple-double.
The Houston Rockets are currently 2 – 0, with wins over the Lakers and Jazz. Offensively, James Harden is leading the team in scoring with Dwight Howard contributing significantly as well. Howard has been controlling the boards for his team, as is expected of the 7-foot Center. Houston is running a 9-man regular rotation and getting significant production from their bench players. Jason Terry, a veteran, has become a specialist coming off the bench in his later years. He helps with the scoring load, controlling the offense, and providing veteran leadership. Rockets bench players Patrick Beverly and Kostas Papanikolaou have made significant offensive contribution in the teams first 2 victories.
This will be an interesting matchup. The Boston Celtics have attempted more field goals per game and have maintained a higher shooting percentage than the Houston Rockets. This should be a high scoring thriller of a game.
