In a game between two of the lower ranked Eastern Conference teams, the Boston Celtics were able to pull off the 118-111 home win over the Detroit Pistons the last time these two teams played. The Pistons were able to dominate the boards in the game, but Boston's good passing throughout the contest ended up being enough to pull off the victory.

The Celtics assisted on 38 of their 47 field goal attempts, while the Pistons were held to just 17 assists in the game. Boston also took care of the ball, turning it over just five times and forcing Detroit to cough it up 16 times.

Point guard Rajon Rondo was Boston's best player in this one, dishing out 18 assists to go along with his 11 points. Jeff Green also had a good game for the hosts, scoring 27 points, which included five three-pointers. Center Kris Humphries had one of his better games of the season for the Celtics, notching a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

All three of the Pistons' starting bigs had double-doubles in the game. Center Andre Drummond had a great game for the visitors, grabbing a whopping 22 rebounds to go along with his 18 points. Josh Smith had a game-high 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Greg Monroe scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the loss.
