The No. 8 seed Atlanta Hawks were able to beat the No. 1 seed Indiana Pacers 101-93 in the first game of their series on Saturday night. The Pacers looked more like the team that lost nine of their last 15 games than the team that dominated the Eastern Conference for the majority of the season.

Atlanta played well in the first quarter and got out to a six point lead, but the Pacers were able to outscore them 28-26 in the second period to make it a tie ballgame going into the half. Atlanta came out of the locker room and played excellent in the third quarter, outscoring the Pacers 30-16. Indiana made a bit of a comeback in the fourth quarter, but they didn't have enough in them to get the win.

Atlanta point guard Jeff Teague was the game's best player in this one by scoring 28 points and also adding five assists in the win. Paul Millsap also had a solid game for the Hawks by scoring 25 and grabbing eight rebounds. Small forward DeMarre Carroll had a double-double by scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Indiana star Paul George had 24 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals, but he made just six of his 18 field goal attempts in the game. Shooting guard Lance Stephenson made 3 three-pointers and ended up with 19 points in the loss.
