Spurs at Timberwolves Picks and NBA Betting Odds

The San Antonio Spurs will look to extend their current winning streak to 11 games when they square off against the Minnesota Timberwolves this Wednesday night at the Target Center. This Western Conference clash is scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m. (ET), and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
In typical mid-season fashion, the Spurs have strung together another extended winning streak, but they are just 5-4-1 against the spread during this 10-game run. They are now 38-11 straight-up overall and 27-20-2 ATS. The total has stayed “under” in 11 of their last 15 games.
Minnesota’s chances of securing a playoff spot in the West have run into a major snag with just two SU wins in its last 10 games. This slide has dropped the Timberwolves to 18-27 SU (20-24-1 ATS) on the year and 12-10 SU (10-12 ATS) at home. The total has gone “over” in five of their last six games.
Spurs at Timberwolves Betting Storylines
San Antonio has consistently been one of the best regular-season teams in the NBA over the past few seasons, and this year is no exception. While it is not always pretty, the Spurs have the uncanny ability to manufacture wins on a regular basis. They have been plagued with their fair share of injuries, with both Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili most likely out for this game, but that has yet to slow them down.
One of the main reasons for San Antonio’s success, especially during its current run, is the ability to simply outscore their opponents by piling up the points. The team is averaging 104.1 points a game and has scored 106 points or more in three of its last five games. Tony Parker has led the way all season long with 20.1 points a game, but the pressure will be on to keep the streak alive without their next two highest scorers in the lineup.
The Timberwolves showed signs of life earlier this season, but ever since 2013 rolled around this team has been a walking disaster. They have posted just four SU victories since the New Year against 14 losses. The loss of Kevin Love since Jan.3 with a fractured hand has proved to be devastating for a team that has been unable to replace his 18.3 points and 14 rebounds a game. Adding to their woes, it looks like Andrei Kirilenko will miss this game as well with a strained quad muscle.
The only chance the Timberwolves have to cover in this game is to somehow slow the Spurs down. They are still ranked 14th in the league in points allowed, and if they can hold San Antonio to its season average of 97 points they may have a shot. Minnesota has sunk to 25th in scoring with 95.3 points a game. However, despite losing five of its last six games, the one encouraging sign is that it has been able to score 100 or more points in four of those contests.
Spurs at Timberwolves NBA Betting Odds and Trends
BookMaker has the Spurs listed as a 4.5-point favorite with the total at 196.
The Spurs are 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the Northwest Division. The total has stayed under in four of those five games against the Northwest.
The Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against the conference. The total has stayed under in five of their last seven games against a team with a winning record.
The home team in this matchup is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings, and the total has stayed under in five of the last seven games between the two. San Antonio crushed Minnesota 106-88 on Jan.13 as a 12.5-point home favorite.
Spurs at Timberwolves Picks and Betting Predictions
The Spurs come in to this matchup trying to keep a 10-game winning streak alive assuming that two of their best players will most likely be sitting this one out. They are good enough to beat Minnesota on the road even under those circumstances, but the game will remain much closer than the last time these two met. Stick with a small play on the Timberwolves to make San Antonio earn No.11.
