Knicks at Nuggets Picks and NBA Betting Odds

The New York Knicks will continue a brutal four-game swing out west with a stop at the Pepsi Center this Wednesday night to square off against the red-hot Denver Nuggets, who now have the second-longest winning streak in the NBA. Tipoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. (ET), and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBA TV.
The Knicks kicked off this road trip with a 92-63 drubbing at the hands of Golden State on Monday night as 2.5-point underdogs. They are now 16-13 straight up on the road this season and 13-14-2 against the spread. The total has stayed “under” in six of their last seven games.
The Nuggets extended their current winning streak to nine games with a 108-93 victory over Phoenix this past Monday as nine-point road favorites. They now return home for this contest where they are 28-3 SU and a profitable 22-9 ATS. The total has stayed under in five of their last six games.
Knicks at Nuggets Betting Storylines
Until Monday night’s meltdown, New York appeared to be back on track with a six SU wins in its previous eight games that had moved them into second place in the Eastern Conference standings. If this performance against the Warriors is any indication of what to expect for the rest of this trip, it is going to be a very long week for Knicks’ fans.
Assuming it was just jet lag from the long trip out west and not Carmelo Anthony’s ailing right knee, the Knicks have to hope that their all-star forward can quickly return to the form that has him averaging a team-high 27.9 points a game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three-point range. New York as a team is averaging 99.4 points while hitting 44 percent of its shots.
Denver is rapidly becoming the team that nobody wants to face in the playoffs. It has climbed to fifth place in the West and is now just two games behind the Clippers for the No.3 seed. Through this current winning streak, the Nuggets have also been a great team to wager on with an 8-0-1 record ATS.
It is all starting to come together with an offense that is pumping out an average 105.9 points a game while pulling down 44.9 rebounds a game. It is ranked third in the NBA in both of these categories. Even a defense that has been suspect at times this season has picked up the pace by holding teams under its season average of 101.3 points allowed in five of its last nine games.
Knicks at Nuggets Betting Odds and Trends
BetOnline has opened Denver as an eight-point home favorite for this contest with the total line set at 208.
The Knicks are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games following a SU loss and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record. The total has stayed “under” in their last four road games.
The Nuggets are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games playing on one day’s rest and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games following a SU win. The total has gone “over” in five of their last six games against the Atlantic Division.
The favorite in this matchup has gone 17-7 ATS in the last 24 meetings, and the total has gone over in the last four. New York is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings, including a 112-106 victory on Dec.9 as a 4.5-point favorite at home.
Knicks at Nuggets Picks and Betting Predictions
The Knicks are still a very good team, but they find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time for this matchup. Anthony’s knee will prevent him from making any kind of loud statement against his old team, and the Nuggets are performing at too high of a level to let this game stay closer than the eight-point spread at home.
