Hawks at Jazz Picks and NBA Betting Odds

The Atlanta Hawks will try and extend their current winning streak to four games this Wednesday night when they face the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena. This inter-conference matchup is slated to get underway at 9 p.m. (ET), and the game will be available on NBA League Pass.
Atlanta notched its third victory in a row this past Monday night with a 114-103 win over Detroit as a 3.5-point road favorite. It is now 32-23 straight up on the year and 25-28-2 against the spread. The Hawks have gone 14-13 SU (15-12 ATS) on the road this season.
The Jazz fell to Boston 110-107 in overtime on Monday night as 7.5-point home favorites. It was their second-straight loss and fourth in their last seven games both SU and ATS. Utah is 31-26 SU (27-29-1 ATS) overall and 21-7 SU (17-11 ATS) at home. The total has gone “over” in five of its last six games.
Hawks at Jazz Betting Storylines
Atlanta decided to keep its current roster intact in light of last week’s NBA Trade Deadline, and, so far, it appears to have been the right move. It is currently tied with Brooklyn for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings and in great position to move even higher up in the ranks. Balance has been the key so far with an offense that is averaging 97.7 points a game to complement a defense that is holding opponents to 96.7 points.
Josh Smith, who was the main topic of trade rumors the past few weeks, continues to lead the team in scoring with 17.3 points a game. Al Horford is scoring 16.8 points and pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds a game. Jeff Teague is dishing out 7.2 assists and averaging 14.5 points a game. Atlanta also has a strong bench led by Lou Williams, who is averaging over 14 points. This all adds up to a deep and talented lineup that can stand toe-to-toe with anyone in the league on any given night.
Utah is just 5-5 SU in its last 10 games, but it continues to display one of the more potent offenses in the league as of late. It is averaging 98.6 points a game, which is ranked 11th in the NBA, but it has now topped this total in six of its last 10 games. Al Jefferson is averaging a team-high 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds while Paul Millsap is a close second with 15.1 points and 7.3 rebounds. Overall, the Jazz are shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from three-point range.
The main reason this team has won only half of those games is a defense that continues to give up points in bunches. Utah is ranked 19th in the league in points allowed in giving up an average of 99 a game. During the last six games, its opponents have exceeded that total four times.
Hawks at Jazz NBA Betting Odds and Trends
Utah has been opened by BetOnline as a five-point home favorite for this matchup with the “over/under” set at 198.5
The Hawks are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games against the Northwest Division and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games playing on one day’s rest. The total has gone over in five of their last seven road games.
The Jazz are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games playing on one day’s rest and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a SU loss. The total has gone over in their last four games against a team with a winning record.
The favorite in this series is 14-5 ATS in the last 19 meetings, and the total has gone over in four of the last five games. Atlanta won the first meeting this season 103-95 as a 4.5-point home favorite with the total going over the 193.5-point line.
Hawks at Jazz Picks and Betting Predictions
This should be a very entertaining game between two teams that know how to light up a scoreboard. The Hawks have actually won six of the last seven meetings SU, making them an excellent road underdog in this matchup, but the top play in this one remains the over on the total line.
