We'll see NASCAR return to the Circuit of the Americas road course this weekend. Since the debut of this facility in 2021, this will be the fifth time that NASCAR has made the stop at the Austin, TX course. What's different this year is that NASCAR will be using the National course layout and that will shorten the lap by over a mile. It is laid out as a 2.3-mile road course that has 20 turns within the structure. There are three stages that make up the 95 laps that will be run including the first stage being 20 laps, 25 for the second stage and 50 for the final stage. This is a longer race this year after running just 68 laps in 2024. With the challenges of this 20 turn, technical layout, you'll see top speeds being limited as the pole is sitting at 94 mph.

This course has the vibes of many of the Formula One tracks that span Europe. That being said, it was originally built as a venue for F1 events which is why it is so different from most other road courses here in the States. F1 makes frequent visits to Circuit of the Americas, in addition to some IndyCar and IMSA races. The race has been moved up in the season for 2025 and most fans are excited to get to see this race ahead of the normal schedule. Since this race has been raced in NASCAR, there have been some really exciting moments. Ross Chastain will be someone to keep an eye on as he has an average finish of 4th at COTA and has led for 45 laps. Tyler Reddick has also raced well here and has a driver rating of 111.7 at COTA. William Byron has led the most laps with 70 and has an average finish of 7.3 on the challenging road course.

Ambetter Health 400 Recap

In an exciting overtime ending to the Ambetter Health 400, Christopher Bell was able to hold off Carson Hocevar and Kyle Larson for his first win of the young season. This is the first win for Joe Gibbs Racing since last June and the 10th career win for Christopher Bell. While Kyle Larson would have liked to have taken the checkered flag, he wasn't too disappointed with his finish as he is 0-for-48 in speedway style tracks. He almost didn't get his third-place finish as he made contact with Austin Cindric with just three laps to go. That said, he was able to compose himself and get across the finish line. Carson Hocevar was talked to by a couple of veterans in Ryan Blaney and Ross Chastain for what they thought was a bit of reckless driving.

As we sit, William Byron leads the pack with 75 points and a win. He's got 1 top 10 finish as well. Christopher Bell is in the second spot with 53 points and a win, while Ryan Blaney sits in third place as the points leader with 87 points. Tyler Reddick (72 points) and Austin Cindric round out the top five respectively.

Tyler Reddick is a great choice for this weekend's race in Austin, TX. In road races, there aren't many drivers that perform better than him. On road courses, Reddick has three wins, 15 Top 10 finishes and has led for 200 laps. He won this race two years ago and has won the pole this year. I like his chances.

Liga MX Take Cruz Azul -1.5 (-130) over San Luis (9 p.m. EST, Saturday March 15) (Graded after regulation time - 90min - plus injury time – we need Cruz Azul to win by 2 or more goals) San Luis was a strong playoff team last season but have fallen on their faces this season. We have played them a couple times recently as they are better than their record, but this is a poor team no doubt, and they are in for a tough match here. They have lost three of their last four road matches by multiple goals, with the only close match a 1-0 road loss to horrible Queretaro. Cruz Azul is No. 5 on the table heading into this week and they have aspirations to move up after being one of the best teams in the history of the league in the regular season last season. This team is a real contender and they will not take this matchup lightly. Last time San Luis visited they left battered after a 3-0 beat down.
